10 Tips for Compressor Health and Energy Savings

1.Lower the Pressure

We all know that working under pressure can be hard. Every additional two pounds of pressure can increase your power consumption by 1%.

2.Save on Cleaning

Consider a dedicated low pressure air compressor and air line for cleaning to save power.

3.Consider a Variable Frequency Drive

Screw compressors should run under full load. If the usage pattern varies, consider a variable frequency drive (VFD) for up to 35 percent in energy-cost reduction.

4.Size Matters

Identify the right-sized compressor for the requirement. An oversized compressor will run on unload mode, leading to higher power consumption. Use our product finder to determine size.

Bigger isn't always better. An oversized compressor will run inefficiently causing short cycling, using more energy and more consumables.

5.Request an Air Audit

An air audit could help save thousands by ensuring compressed air system efficiency. Contact our experts in your area to request an air audit.

6.On Time Service

Delaying an air filter change will increase the compressor’s power consumption. Schedule on-time service with a service provider in your area for optimal power consumption.

7.Quarterly Checks

Perform quarterly checks for leaks in the compressed air circuit.

8.Calibrate Gauges

Calibrate the pressure gauges at quarterly intervals to accurately measure leaks.

9.Dryer Sizing

Identify the right-size and type of dryer needed for your requirement. Over drying air and oversized dryers will end up costing you more.

10.Pre-filters

Install pre-filters for suction air and cooling air to extend the life of the compressor and its consumables.
